Community Service project - Message in a Bottle

The idea
behind this project is
for the elderly people to keep detailed information on their
medication in a bottle, which is kept in the refrigerator.A
label is stuck to the refrigerator door indicating the bottle
containing this vital information is inside. Should the
ambulance services need to call, they will know that they can
access this vital information quickly. The scheme started in
Scotland and was adopted by the Community Service committee as one of
its projects for the 2005. The Committee has been very active
and has received support and promises of support from a range of
local businesses and bodies, including The Cambrian News
and the Town Council. A full account and list of sponsors will
appear in a future edition. After the meeting on May 3rd,
members spent an hour or so sticking labels on to the plastic
bottles and folding the ‘messages’ before inserting them into
the bottles. The ingenuity of Rotarians knows no bounds – a
tool for inserting the messages was provided, thanks to Huw
Spencer Lloyd, whose broom handle is now 18” shorter. |
