Rotary club committees The
overall management of the club is through it's 'Executive'
committee, the Club Council, with the five operational
Service committees given responsibility for activities in
their designated areas.
Club Council
Club Council normally meet bi-monthly, under the chairmanship of
the club President, and comprises the Secretary, Assistant
Secretary, Treasurer, Immediate Past President, Senior Vice
President (President-elect), Junior Vice President (President
Nominee), four Service committee chairmen plus two elected members. Council discuss and lead the
strategic affairs, making their recommendation on major
issues to the full membership, involving everyone in decision
making.
Service committees
The regular activities and service responsibilities are
delegated to five Service committees. The chairmanship and
committee members changes annually, with the aim of utilising
the skills, talents and vocational experience of all members,
sharing the work loads and responsibilities, as well
as encouraging fresh ideas and approaches.
●Club Service (Chaired by
Senior Vice President) - to manage
membership development and retention, communication amongst
members and with District and other clubs, the club programme of
speakers, sporting events and visits, and Rotaract
development.
●Community and Vocational Service - to identify
areas of need, either directly or through local charitable
organisations, within the community and provide the
appropriate service work or financial assistance. Emphasis is given to the 'Ideals of
service', acknowledging the fact that as a fund raiser and
provider of funding, Rotary is merely one of many, but as a
provider of service, it is without peer.
●International - to raise the
awareness and effectiveness of international and world community
service provided by Rotary districts and individual clubs, and
to identify suitable causes and projects including taking the
responsibility for raising the supporting funding.
●Rotary Foundation (Rotary's
charity)- to support
the efforts of Rotary International in fulfilment of
Rotary’s mission and the achievement of World understanding and
peace, to support Ambassadorial scholars and to identify local
candidates for Rotary scholarships.
●Youth Activities - to identify
and develop projects and activities, which satisfy the needs and
develop the aspirations of local young people.
