      Our service to the community

This Rotary club is Aberystwyth's leading service and social club with a long tradition of charitable work carefully targetting worthwhile local, national and international causes and activities. We have donated over £100,000 to a wide range of charities over the last decade, and in addition in conjunction with 5 nearby Rotary clubs, providing £93,000 funding to the Aberystwyth Bronglais hospital Palliative care unit

In recent years we took a humanitarian truck load of food, clothes and medicines to Croatia, have transported elderly/disabled people to shops and social events, fitted smoke alarms in pensioners houses, organised and funded holidays and days out for disadvantaged families and young adults and implemented the 'Message in a bottle' scheme in elderly peoples homes..

We have given substantial amounts of money over the years to large Rotary projects where most of our donations are match funded to double our contribution. Such projects include Polio irradication, the Wheel chair fund, Doctor Bank, Malawi water project. A substantial emergency fund has allowed us to react quickly to disasters such as the Haiti earthquake and the Cockermouth floods

We are only able to give such financial assistance through the generosity of Aberystwyth and other citizens who contribute so freely to fund raising activities like our annual Christmas collection, our summer pig roast, musical concerts and many other events.
