The Welsh Assembly Government Minister for Health, with Aberystwyth Rotary President John Davies at the 'Ty Geraint' Opening ceremony
To mark the 100th anniversary of the worldwide organisation of Rotary International, Aberystwyth Rotary club joined forces with the Rotary clubs of Tywyn, Machynlleth, Llanidloes, Aberaeron ,Lampeter and Cardigan to significantly enhance the new palliative care unit, named Ty Geraint in after Lord Geraint Howells, for Ceredigion and Mid Wales. Over £90,000 was raised in 2006/7 and donated to the unit attached to Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth, and to other palliative care facilities in the area.
